Mini Shield
A scouts report of the event:
The Mini Shield was a great camp as it gave us a chance to prepare for the County Shield in May. It was a two-night camp in Ruan, Co. Clare in which three patrols attended, two competing patrols and one non-competing patrol. On the Friday of the camp we arrived at the scout hall with all our gear and filled the trailer before heading off to Ruan. When we arrived, we emptied the trailer and began to set up our sleeping and Icelandic tents. At this stage it was already dark so not everything was going to plan.
We woke up early on Saturday morning and prepared ourselves for the day ahead. Thankfully the weather was on our side for once and we started to build our pioneering gadgets. It took a while but we got there in the end.
On Sunday, even if we were ready to kill each other, we began taking down the site. Gladly taking down the site is a lot quicker than putting the site up. We packed up the trailer and headed back to the scout hall. Overall the weekend was a great success and we all made it home in one piece.
