Ruan Overnight

Twenty one Scouts from our Scout group attended an overnight activity in Ruan. We left Limerick early on Saturday morning (8am) and had our tents pitched and gear sorted in Ruan before 10am. We had three patrols and the plan was for each patrol to complete three bases. Two on Saturday and one on Sunday. Unfortunately the weather was a little unkind and we only completed one base each before the rain got really bad.
We went into the Dining Shelter and practiced Orienteering (Grid References and Bearings). Then it was time to prepare dinner. The Paprika Chicken and Stewed Apple and Custard were really nice. It was dark by then so we did some night orienteering and capture the flag.
The night was cold and there was a fine layer of frost on the tents in the morning. Everyone who brought their two sleeping bags were nice and cosy.
Sunday turned out to be a beautiful day and the Scouts worked really hard and each patrol completed two bases.
